Overiew

The Department of Computer Engineering was established in 2009. The department offers a 3 Years course, Diploma in Computer Engineering. We also have Programs for Graduation (B.E) and Post Graduation (M.E) in Computer Engineering in Our MCT, Basna Campus.

The Department of Computer Engineering seeks to provide an excellent environment in which students and faculty are engaged in a comprehensive up-to-date education process of the highest quality in all aspects of computing. The mission of the department is to produce the next generation of computer scientists. The department strives to achieve its mission by being student centered, community engaged, and committed to academic excellence.

The Department of Computer Engineering offers a variety of ways to concentrate in this field at the undergraduate level.

Computer engineering students will learn about basic engineering techniques, as other engineering students, during first year course. These techniques include Engineering Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and Engineering drawing. From second year they are exposed to core computer science subjects like programming, data structures, Digital logic, Theoretical computer science, Algorithms, Computer networks, Operating systems, Web technologies, Databases and Computer Architecture, ASP.NET, PHP are few to mention.

Objectives

To prepare students for advanced technical positions in industry and for further education.
To promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between universities and industry.
To attract students into science and technology career paths and to encourage educators to use high performance computing for teaching and demonstrating scientific and mathematical principles.
To encourage the advancement of computationally intensive science by promoting the use of high-performance computers, visualization, and other parallel computational tools.
To work as partners with the computer industry for achieving major advances in computer technology.
To provide students with significant depth in at least one area of computer science, students must work with their advisor to select a technical track.

Infrastructure

Laboratories with latest configuration PC’s are connected in LAN. Relevant software's are installed and made available to the students for proper understanding and learning of the subjects. Thus leaving them equipped with knowledge that builds their skills.

The Department's space is designed for flexibility and to allow easy further infrastructure expansion. There is ample space for laboratories and classrooms to support teaching and group interactions.

Workstations - The Department maintains a variety of desktop and server computing resources. All faculty and student desktops are equipped with either WIPRO or HCL workstations with advanced graphics displays and at least 1 GB of RAM.

Networking - The Department operates a Dlink Switch interconnected via gigabit fiber to Ethernet switches. Fiber-optic links provide dual 3MBPS links to the main campus network.

Computer Department Laboratories

Basic Computing Lab

This lab provides facility to students to learn programming languages and do practicals on C, Computer Programming with C++ (Sem III), Computer Programming with JAVA (Sem V), Data Structures Management (Sem III), Commuter Graphics (Sem IV).

Database Lab

To study database techniques. To acquaint students with relatively advanced issues & is fully equipped with relevant resources. We use the Oracle 10G and MS SQL server 2005/2008 to study database techniques.

Web Development / Project Lab

This lab provides latest research tool for working on various Projects. The lab also equipped with the tools used for web development on which students can perform practicals on Web Application Development , IAP , ASP.NET,VB.NET & PHP (sem- V &VI).

Software Programming Lab

To apply various software programming practices and methodologies while dealing with the various phases of software development. Lab is used for performing the assignments of Advance .Net Technology, Visual Basic Applications and Programming etc.

System Programming Lab

This lab provides latest tools to the students for applying practices and programming of system softwares. Students can perform practicals on Operating System (Sem-4)

Computer Center

Computer Center is equipped with more than 60 computers, HCL INFINITI PRO/TRU BL1330 having INTEL DUAL CORE processors with latest configurations. Silent features of the Computer Center are as below.

Centrally Connectivity with Fast Ethernet Structured Cabling.
3 Mbps of Internet Backbone Connectivity.
Wi-Fi enabled Campus.
Internet enabled Nodes in the Computer Center.

Seminar hall with a capacity of 200 persons is developed with audio/video aids.

Activity

We have arranged Seminar on "Search Engine Optimization" for our computer a department student which is conducted by Mr. Yatrik Goswami, a project manager in Tops Technology.

We have arranged Seminar on "Future IT Industry Demands" for our computer a department students which is jointly conducted by Mr. D.L. Kulkarni, CEO of Sakeesoft Solution Pvt Ltd and Sardar Patel Institute of Technology.

We have arranged Seminar on "How IT Industry works and their demands" for our computer a department students which is jointly conducted by Mr. Snehal Chauhan, CEO of InheritX Solution Pvt Ltd and Sardar Patel Institute of Technology.

We have arranged 3 week summer training program on"Android Application Development" for our final year students of computer a department which is jointly conducted by InheritX Solution Pvt Ltd and Sardar Patel Institute of Technology.

We have arranged 2 days workshop on"Ethical Hacking" for our students of Institute which is jointly conducted by Kyrion Digital Security Pvt Ltd and Sardar Patel Institute of Technology.

We have arranged 1 week training program for certification course on "Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)" for our final year students of computer Department.

Seminar on “NETWORKING” by HCL.

Industrial Visit at Scientech Technologies Pvt. Ltd. at INDORE(MP).

Industrial Visit at ISRO, Ahmedabad and BISAG, Gandhinagar .

We also had seminar and CAMPUS INTERVIEW by AAKG PVT. LTD.

Future of IT and Computer Engineering

This has been one of the most lucrative and competitive course to study since its inception in Indian engineering schools, colleges and universities. When India’s computer industry created mark in world of business and gained super trust and revenue for the nation it also created large amount of well paid jobs for Computer Engineering students.

This is really an excellent field to have opportunities both in software companies and higher studies. As computing is extensively applied to almost every walk of life it created massive jobs for Computer Engineering students. On the same time more demand and application kept it research funding alive attracting many students to opt for higher studies.

Computer engineering graduates typically have some of the highest starting salaries in engineering. Computer engineers have the option of moving into hardware or software positions, or blending the two.

Typical industries hiring computer engineers include financial services, computer manufacturers, chemical companies, defense contractors, consulting, transportation, manufacturing, and consumer goods. Computer engineers are equally successful in large multinational firms and small startups.
